Evelyn DiLorenzo graduated Southampton College in 1986 with a Bachelors degree in Marine Science Biology. She worked in local restaurants throughout her college years. Shortly after graduating, she found a job with an international sports promotional company, Cedric Kushner Promotions as an event/ travel coordinator and traveled extensively with them for the next five years. She is currently a dedicated soccer mom and continues her passion in photography when she has the time.
Evelyn was a close friend of Lucia Bagan for 23 years and was deeply impacted by her passing. She decided to join the Lucia's Angels team in an effort to help other women and families going through similar battles. It is her hope that they will never have to feel alone in their fight.
Diane Ferran
Cindy Grant BS, LMT, CLT-LANA graduated in 1991 for the New Center for Holistic Health & Research. She is certified in Complete Decongestive Physiotherapy through the Lymphology Association of North America. Cindy specializes in massage for patients with cancer. She earned her training through Memorial Sloan-Kettering Cancer Center. Cindy developed the first hospital-based lymph edema and massage program on Long Island, NY. Cindy developed a massage therapy policy and procedure manual for the Joint Commission an Accreditation of Health Care Organizations and received high accolades. For the past eleven years, Cindy has been responsible for managing multiple massage programs including onsite and at three offsite clinics for Southampton Hospital. Currently, she is developing a 10-week mind/body program for cancer patients and cardiac patients, based on Harvard’s Mind/Body Clinic program. Cindy is a board member of The South For Breast Health Coalition. She lectures regularly to the community on the benefits of massage therapy.
Stacy Quarty is president and founder of Q Studio, a full-service graphic design firm. She also is an author. Ms. Quarty’s first book, Frankly Pregnant: A Candid Week by Week Guide to the Unexpected Joys, Raging Hormones and Common Experience of Pregnancy, was published by St. Marin’s Press in April, 2006. She is currently working on her second and third books, both works of non-fiction.
On a more personal level, Ms. Quarty’s life has been affected by cancer numerous times. She has stood by as a sister, a brother-in-law, two Aunts, two Grandparents, five friends and two best friends went through surgeries, chemotherapy and radiation as they struggled for their lives. Not all of them made it, including the recently-deceased and best friend, Lucia Terzi Bagan, who’s memory and spirit is honored by the Lucia’s Angels Foundation. Through unfortunate experience, Ms. Quarty has gained compassion and knowledge about cancer; cancer treatment and recovery; and loss of life from cancer. Ms. Quarty is dedicated to honoring the wishes of Lucia Bagan: to do all that she can to reach out to women and families suffering from final stage breast cancer.
Susan Barry Roden is co-founder and President of The South For Breast Health Coalition and 2-time breast cancer survivor. Ms. Roden is committed to educating women on the East End of Long Island about breast cancer and breast health for more than ten years. She is also the Community Outreach Coordinator for Southampton Hospital’s Breast Health Center. Ms. Roden has brought many programs to the community that reach out to women undergoing treatment for breast cancer and their families; educational programs for the general community and teenage girls; and support groups for breast cancer survivors and their families.
Through their programs The South Fork Breast Health Coalition and the Southampton Hospital Breast Health Center reach out to the under-served, the Hispanic, African American and Native American communities, and groups in need of education and support.
Ms. Roden, a two-time breast cancer survivor serves as a positive role model for all women facing a diagnosis of breast cancer and is trying to make everyone aware of the importance of early detection while providing love, support and a helping hand to those in need.
Karen Saco, RN and breast cancer survivor, graduated in 1989 with a BA in Therapy and graduate courses in Art Therapy towards a MA. Her focus in nursing was spent in working with Hospice patients. She worked in New Mexico, Colorado, and New York integrating her knowledge of Hospice through management of Hospice programs, and teaching medical staff about pain management and care of terminal patients. Currently, she is working and volunteering with The South For Breast Health Coalition educating teens on breast health awareness.
